Thimbles
September2
Anjea came over today to block one of her show quilts and we trekked to Joann’s while it was in the washer. I bought 6 new thimbles to try. SIX!!!It’s rediculous how I can’t find one I like. I really only use it for binding, so it’s not like it’s been a hurry to find the right one. But because I use a ladder stitch and I hold my finger a little funny, it’s difficult. I do like the leather thimble (Nimble brand, I think) but it tears up fast. I found one today that is intreaguing. It’s labelled as a sashiko thimble.
And I just saw this one on the Clover site, too.

I’m curious.. what do you use for thimbles? Or do you?
I’ve never been able to wear a thimble.
I just wear a hole in my finger.
Apparently it’s been awhile since I’ve done any seriously hand-sewing (i.e. binding…) because my finger is currently completely whole and lacking in holes. LOL
Good luck in your quest.
Yes, but I used to hand quilt…. I LOVE the roxanne thimbles… but they are on the expensive side… or they used to be…. but worth it when you don’t leave DNA behind on the quilt
El Cheapo thimbles for the win!
I don’t like thimbles either. I use a Thimble-It (by Colonial Needle Company), which is a self adhesive oval of plastic that you stick on your finger. It won’t protect as well as a metal or leather thimble, but it does add a layer of protection to help prevent the holes in your fingers.
