I finally got it finished!

I decided to go ahead and switch to a self-hosted blog using the wordpress.org software. Love it love it love it. So, now, the blog is hosted at deanatollerton.com. You can still go to the original ducksoupquilts.wordpress.com address and your RSS feeds should all still work. If they don’t, please let me know.

This took me a little longer than I anticipated. But I’ve also been MIA for two very good reasons. #1 – my camera battery died and I can’t upload the pics from SF. And #2 – I have been so busy since I got back that I’ve barely had time to breathe. I haven’t checked other blogs or any forums in like 3 weeks. I had to make a conscious effort to log into Facebook yesterday. That started it all rolling again. Now I’m reading on MQR and checking back on my google reader and sorting emails I haven’t gotten to in a while. It’s a little much to do all at once, but I’m going to try and get it done over time.

I finally broke down and ordered a new battery charger for my camera. I’m really glad I did. Even if I find the old one, the new one (after-market brand) can be charged in the car. Big plus for traveling!

Off to run some errands downtown. I’ve got SF trip posts prepped and waiting for pictures. In the meantime, what do you think of the new layout?

In my research about what to put in my wardrobe, I’ve been looking at vintage patterns. I LOVE vintage patterns. I LOVE vintage clothes, too. It’s obviously hard for me to find anything in my size, but since I grade up for most patterns, I’m not too worried. After reading some of Summerset’s Inside the Envelope posts, I think it’s as important to learn from the instructions as it is to get the pattern pieces. And really, I can redraft a pattern if I can see how it’s put together.

These dresses are really tempting me…

The try-on session taught me that I need skirts that skim my hips but have fullness in the knees.

Is this not the coolest idea? The skirt skims, but it gives waist definition and the nice surplice top. I might alter that one to make the waistband larger.

Now I just have to figure out where dresses fit into my everyday wardrobe…

I love spending time just doing nothing… for the first day. Then I get antsy. And afraid I’m forgetting some super-important deadline (which I usually am!) and then spend a day trying to figure it out. And then the next day rushing to get done that-which-I-forgot…

So, yeah. Week o’ nothing was interesting. I did manage to do a few things, including schedule a number of rentals to squeeze in before SF. I updated my projects list, which you can all view at any time, courtesy of Google Docs. And I’m making some plans for wardrobe sewing.

I realized one thing in all of this “free time” — I really do much better when I have routine. Has anyone else found that? I envy friends who can just rearrange their schedule on the fly. The Bro once said that he’s not a good waiter b/c he can’t rapidly prioritize. I’m the same way. And once I have something planned out (to the N’th degree, of course) I’m really thrown by the need to change. I’ve gotten a LOT better since the introduction of *those drugs* (yes, Absent, you get jam-royalty-points). But it’s still hard at home. FLYlady doesn’t work for me, and the SHE system is sorta there, but I’m always looking for new methods.

Anyways. Time for bed. We had a very uneventful First Wedding Anniversary. I wasn’t in the mood for a picnic, so we just went to Cheesecake Factory and B&N for a couple hours of magazine/book browsing. But the dark chocolate ganache on our lunchtime cake gave me a bad allergic reaction and I need some sleep.

Thanks for letting me be away for a week or two, yous guys. I needed to recharge my batteries. Hopefully I didn’t loose my 3 readers in the process.

- the muslin for Mrs Peacock and progress on that front

- my ideas for my entries into the Austin Quilt Show

- the fashion show I was a part of on Saturday and the coolness that happened

- Annie’s first quilt (actaully, I need to borrow pics from Anjea for that one)

- and my color wheel swap dyeing from last night (and the rinse out results from today)

Sorry, guys. I have all the drafts ready to go but I keep getting distracted. bad!deana
